Lisette B. Poole is a freelance journalist and a journalism professor at California State University, East Bay. Her expertise is in the Middle East and North Africa, reporting for The Associated Press and The Times of London. During a 14-year career in the region she covered wars and peace talks, economic busts and booms, and the rise of the "Jihad vs. McWorld" phenomena in the region.
