Dona Spring Memorial 7/13/09

Dona Spring Memorial Celebration 1 year Anniversary was held Monday, July 13 2009 at Anna's Jazz Island in downtown Berkeley.

Dona Spring

People brought food for pot-luck, and we collected donations for the Berkeley Animal Welfare Fund in honor of Dona. We celebrated the life & accomplishments of our friend, mentor, and fellow activist. She'll always be in our hearts.

Berkeley Chapter in hibernation

Hey all-

If it's not already obvious, the Berkeley Green Party has gone back into hibernation. November 2008 was a successful election for Berkeley Greens & their close allies. John Selawsky was re-elected to the School Board, while the entire Rent Board slate (including Green Jesse Townley) was elected. Progressive Democrat Jesse Arreguin successfully beat back Terry Doran to fill Councilmember Dona Spring's seat in District 4.

After the election, many of the main behind-the-scenes people became swamped by things like school funding fights (Selawsky) and rent board work (Townley). After some casual talks we decided to put the chapter to sleep for a while. The by-laws and a small amount of funds are available for Berkeley Greens who wish to reinvigorate the chapter.

Please contact Bob or Patti Marsh, who are both Berkeley Greens who serve on the County Council for the Alameda County Greens.
